The Healey-Driscoll Administration yesterday released A Home For Everyone: Massachusetts’ Statewide Housing Plan, the “first comprehensive statewide housing plan to increase housing production, meet the unique needs of communities and lower costs across the state.”
According to its press release: “The plan, which includes an in-depth analysis of the state’s housing needs, identifies that the state needs to increase its year-round housing supply by at least 222,000 units from 2025 to 2035 to stay competitive and lower costs. Every region of the state needs more homes in order to reach this statewide target.”
The report also validates the need for a supportive housing development pipeline that is efficient and flexible and included the Supportive Housing Coalition’s call for 10,000 more supportive housing units over the next 10 years.
The Network thanks our western Massachusetts representatives, Keith Fairey of Way Finders, and Brad Gordon of Upside413, who served on the Housing Advisory Council in support of this effort.
We look forward to digging in deeper and maximizing the findings in this report in our advocacy going forward.
