Understanding Community Trauma: What we are All Experiencing, and How to Mitigate the Impact
COVID-19 has shone a spotlight on how important community is to our health and well-being. What happens when all of us go through something as unprecedented as the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing isolation? This webinar will present a framework for understanding the impact of this collective trauma, with a specific focus on understanding the ways this may be impacting the vulnerable in our communities (particularly those with previous trauma histories). Lessons learned from the SARS outbreak and quarantine in Canada in the early 2000s will be used to show the potential impact this time may have on all of us. This webinar will also offer strategies for thinking about emerging from social distancing and supporting vulnerable populations as we all move into a new “normal.”
