We are sorry to share the sad news that Dave Gadaire passed away on January 31.
He was many, many things in his life, including long-time President and CEO of MassHire-Holyoke Career Center, and one of the original “co-creators” of the Western Massachusetts Network to End Homelessness in 2009. He served on the Network Steering Committee for many years and was a stalwart champion of the Network’s mission, devoting countless hours towards realizing its goals.
His obituary sums it up best:
“David was known for his gentle heart and kind soul. He devoted his life to the benefit of others; especially the marginalized and oppressed, everyone was equal in David’s eyes, where there were no labels… He was a true giver in every sense of definition, carrying this trait seamlessly between his personal and work life. Known for his quick unfiltered jokes of which he claimed there were only five, he used humor to connect with people in ways words alone often could not.”
It was an honor and a joy to know Dave. He will be sorely missed by so many.
And because he would want nothing more than to be honored by keeping up the fight, please see the latest calls to action on our blog.
