Program Manager position available
Seeking a creative, dynamic individual to take a lead role in the design, development and implementation of programs for Friends of the Homeless, Inc., a private, non-profit 501 (C) 3 in Springfield. Our organization was established over twenty years ago to provide emergency shelter and services for adult individuals in the Greater Springfield area and is currently seeking a Program Manager to join our agency. We recently completed construction of a state of the art resource center on our Worthington Street campus to provide comprehensive 24 hour services designed to continue to reduce the number of homeless individuals in Western Mass.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for daily operation of programs that provide advocacy, case management, short term, emergency shelter and stabilization services to the agency’s guests. Design, develop and implement programs in an interagency collaborative manner to offer guests access to social services/benefits, medical, health care/insurance, legal, mental health and substance abuse services; and housing and job searches.
We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years related experience and/or training including management experience; or equivalent combination of education and progressive management experience in Human Services. Experience working with homeless or at-risk population is preferred. Management/supervisory experience with proven ability to motivate with strong leaderships skills necessary. Preference also given for Master’s degree in related field. Bilingual/bi-cultural also a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as a team member. Self-starter, ability to problem solve, and self-motivated with attention to detail are other abilities desired.
