Below is a message and call to action from Homes for Families via the National Alliance to End Homelessness – please read and act!
As you know, Congress just passed a debt bill that will affect federal funding for programs assisting low-income communities. Both the House and the Senate have to re-draft their budget proposals for next year, and McKinney-Vento funding for homeless programs can possibly be fully funded to implement needed changes from the HEARTH Act in next year’s budget.
Our Congressman – Rep. John Olver – has power to influence spending on McKinney-Vento programs. We need to call his office starting today and over the next couple of weeks at 202-225-5335 and say:
“Please fund McKinney-Vento at $2.4 billion.”
Everyone has worked tremendously hard during this recession to serve homeless populations and what we need to make our work go farther is more funding. This is one way to increase federal funding, but we need Congressman Olver’s office to be flooded with phone calls. Please forward this email.

Thank you!
