On Monday, September 27, Pamela Schwartz, Network coordinator, and Lynne Wallace, vice-president of Dietz&Co. Architects and co-chair of the Network’s Leadership Council, met with Congressman John Olver of the 1st Congressional District to share our Network’s success and advocate for full funding of the HEARTH Act. Congressman Olver, as Chairman of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee, is a long-time champion of federal funding for homelessness prevention and housing, so our advocacy equaled gratitude and encouragement to keep on pushing.
We shared our Network’s success with HPRP and ICHH funding, the vital role both have played in reducing family homelessness , and how the federal/state alignment in goals and strategies put all Networks across the state in an excellent position to maximize the effectiveness of federal resources.
Congressman Olver expressed his appreciation for what our Network has accomplished and for the diversity and depth of our Leadership Council across our four counties. He committed to doing everything he can to continue federal support to end homelessness.
