A message from One Family (and your Network!):
On Friday December 4th the National Alliance to End Homelessness hosted a congressional briefing at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Staff people representing nearly 30 Congressional offices were in attendance and heard from an expert panel, including Bob Pulster and a family who received re-housing services from the Central Mass Housing Alliance. Speakers provided information about the success that their state, city, or program has had in using solution-focused strategies, like prevention and rapid re-housing, to reduce homelessness among families. Speakers requested that Congress continue its support for ending homelessness by including $1 billion in any upcoming job-creation bill to extend the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP).
But more advocacy is needed.
Please take a few minutes to contact your federal legislative delegation and encourage them to support the inclusion of $1 billion of HPRP funding in the upcoming job-creation bill.
Click here for a sample letter from the National Alliance that you could use in contacting your Representatives and Senators. Of course a phone call is also effective.
If you are unsure who your Representative or Senator is you can find that information at http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.php
Thanks for taking action.
