The Western Massachusetts Non-Profit Housing Developers Group recently engaged a consultant team to look at opportunities and challenges to creating permanent supportive housing in western Massachusetts. A key strategy in the region’s plans to end homelessness include the creation of permanent supportive housing units for both individuals and families. Earlier this week, the consultants released the report: Creating Sustainable Supportive Housing in Western Massachusetts: An Analysis of Barriers and Local Opportunities.
The second phase of this project will be to identify state-level strategies that could address some of these barriers and foster greater production of supportive housing – so stay tuned for more! In the meantime, the consultants will be providing some direct assistance to targeted groups on developing working partnerships between housing and service agencies who are partnering to create new supportive housing.
