Great news! Last week, the MA Legislature passed overrides of the Governor’s vetoes to key housing programs (and other related areas) in the FY24 budget. The Network’s priority veto overrides include:
Craig’s Doors Shelter – the Legislature override restored Craig’s Doors shelter funding of $40,000 to support its pilot transportation voucher program and placement for especially vulnerable individuals.
Home & Healthy for Good (HHG) – the Legislature’s override restored the $2.5 million in the veto cut to its initial $8.89 million allocation and added back key language for Mass. Housing and Shelter Alliance’s systems change work.
Housing Consumer Education and Counseling (HCEC) – the Legislature’s override restored the $700,00 in the veto to its initial $10.4 million allocation.
Foreclosure & Housing Counseling – the Legislature’s override restored the original allocation to $3.05 million with the inclusion of $1.5 million for Chapter 206 grants.
Big thanks to our legislators for their support of all these critical programs – we appreciate you! And thanks to all of our Network partners for making sure our region’s needs were heard. Appreciation all around!
