The House Ways and Means (HWM) Committee Released its Fiscal Year 2023 budget yesterday. We have preliminary reports on housing and homelessness related items, thanks to our statewide partners:
CHAPA’s analysis is here.
The Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance’s analysis is here. In addition to what is listed there, the HWM budget includes $10 million for a shelter workforce development initiative.
The Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ analysis is here.
There is a lot of good news here, including many substantial increases in funding over the Governor’s proposed budget in our key areas. And as always, we have our work to do in the coming days to secure amendments to improve the budget even more.
Please stay tuned for more detailed information on amendments and requests for co-sponsorship to our delegation. The Massachusetts House will debate its budget proposal the last week of April.
A big thanks to our Western MA legislators on the House Ways and Means Committee for their tremendous work and to all our legislators for their critical support to prevent and end homelessness!
