On behalf of the entire Network, we are relaying this note of big thanks to so many of our Western MA legislators for their support of a legislative sign-on letter to the Governor and Secretary Sudders to request expanded FEMA authorization to provide non-congregate shelter spaces to people experiencing homelessness regardless of their COVID-19 status. The details are in the letter – it was turned around and sent in 24 hours! – and it reflects the statewide effort to maximize federal resources in support of meeting the urgent public health need and the costs involved to do so. Along with the MA Coalition for the Homeless and Mass Law Reform Institute, Network Co-Chairs Gerry McCafferty and Keleigh Pereira and Director Pamela Schwartz were pleased to represent the Network and Western MA’s needs in this advocacy, all of it made possible by our amazing Legislative Delegation.
