As you may recall, the Affordable Homes Act (the housing bond bill) was reported favorably out of the Joint Housing Committee on March 6 and referred to the Joint Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets. Next up: the Bonding Committee has scheduled its hearing on this bill for Tuesday, April 2, 1 pm, at the State House and virtually. Since this Committee will focus primarily on the financing aspects of the bond request for oral testimony, we will prioritize the submission of written testimony in support of our policy priorities (in conjunction with our statewide partners).

Of course all are welcome to attend the hearing and sign up to testify if inclined.    Those who wish to give in-person or virtual testimony must sign up no later than Friday, March 29th at 5PM by emailing Peter DeGrandis (peter.degrandis@mahouse.gov) in Chair Finn’s office, or Patti Kirwin-Keilty (patricia.kirwin-keilty@masenate.gov) in Chair Kennedy’s office.

Written testimony will be accepted through Tuesday April 2nd at 5PM. Please send to the email addresses above.

Please feel free to adapt this template for your written testimony.

FYI on Network Letter to Joint Committee on Ways and Means:
The Western MA Network to End Homelessness submitted written testimony to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means urging the adoption of the Access to Counsel program at $3.5 Million (Line-item 0321-1800) alongside the full Access to Counsel bill language contained in S.864/H.4360, and urged further consideration of the Network’s additional FY25 budget priorities.  We were joined in our advocacy by many of partners in the Access to Counsel Coalition.  The drumbeat continues!
