The MA House of Representatives passed its proposed Fiscal year 2023 budget this week. Unfortunately, our Network’s priority amendments were not adopted, with the exception of partial funding for the Network earmark itself ($50,000 of the requested $75,000). A big thanks to our Western Massachusetts delegation, and special thanks to Representative Lindsay Sabadosa as lead sponsor, for all their support of the Network. And the biggest thanks to our legislators across all four counties for their co-sponsorship of so many priority amendments!
The FY23 House budget provides increases in funding in many of our key areas. See the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance for their summary chart or the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ analysis here.
And now it’s on to the Senate! The Senate Ways and Means Committee will release its proposed budget in the next couple of weeks, which will launch our next chance at advocacy to help shape the final budget outcomes.
Please stay tuned!
