Please join this action on Wed., 5/19, 5:30 pm at Court Square, Springfield, organized by Springfield No One Leaves and Arise for Social Justice. Their announcement is below:
With Governor Baker’s announcement today that the State of Emergency will lift on June 15 and the legal challenges to the CDC eviction moratorium, many tenants could be in danger of being displaced faster than anyone had previously thought could happen.
Please join Springfield No One Leaves, Arise for Social Justice in partnership with the Homes for All coalition as we rally to urge our legislators to pass the Covid-19 Housing Equity Bill before mass displacement becomes a realty in our communities. We are still in the red zone in many of our communities and we could see covid case numbers increase just like they did when the moratorium lifted as people face being removed from their homes as protections that keep them housed lift swiftly and fast.
Join us and some of our local elected officials this Wednesday evening May 19th at 530pm at court square in downtown Springfield to urge our legislators to pass our bill as swiftly as possible so that our communities can continue to recover from the pandemic in a just and humane way.
If possible make your own sign that says PASS THE COVID-19 HOUSING EQUITY BILL NOW!. Normally we would have these signs for you but we have been focused on keeping people housed and have not been able to have our youth meet to create signs for the event.
In power,
SNOL and Arise for Social Justice
