The Network is partnering with CHAPA, the statewide housing policy and advocacy organization, in efforts to maximize long-term housing solutions during COVID-19. We are grateful to CHAPA for this letter to DHCD Undersecretary Jennifer Maddox and House and Senate leaders that also reflects the Network’s goals: a “systems-wide approach” to ensure state and federal dollars are strategically allocated; a public planning process to allow for public input and transparency; and greater investment in Permanent Supportive Housing as a critical component to meeting long-term housing needs.
Our region has come together as the Western MA COVID-19 Task Force for Housing First, including state legislators, mayors, shelter and housing providers across the four Western counties. It will provide a coordinating vehicle to meet emergency shelter needs across our communities, as well as a united voice to maximize the use of federal COVID-19 dollars for permanent housing solutions.
We looking forward to continuing the work with our statewide partners for making transformational change through this crisis.
